Obama Eats Lunch And Talks About Small Business In Edison (VIDEO)

President Obama flew into Jersey yesterday…and his motorcade promptly drove to the Tastee Sub Shop in Edison…where he chatted with a group of small business owners while enjoying a 6 inch "Super Sub" stuffed with assorted lunch meats.

After the meal, Mr. Obama said "small businesses create 2 out of every 3 jobs in this country, so our recovery depends on them, and if we want to keep America moving forward, we need to keep investing in our small businesses."

Towards that end, the President is calling on the Senate to pass legislation that's designed to help small businesses in a variety of different ways.

"Government can't replace the millions of jobs that we lost in the recession" said Mr. Obama, "but it can create the conditions for small businesses to hire more people, through steps like tax breaks…the bill I'm urging the Senate to approve eliminates capital gains taxes for key investments in small firms, it will increase the deductions that small businesses can take for new equipment and other expenses...surely democrats and republicans ought to be able to agree on this bill, because of the provisions it puts forth…this is as American as apple pie."

The Commander in Chief then left for two fundraisers and an appearance on the TV show The View in New York, before returning to Jersey and then flying back to Washington on Air Force One.
