Assemblyman: Let's Show Mtv What It's Really Like At The Jersey Shore (VIDEO)
"This is the situation. MTV thinks it captured the Jersey Shore. We know better. Let's show them what it's really like Down the Shore on our sandy beaches and fantastic boardwalks," says Assemblyman Jon Bramnick.
The second season of MTV's "The Jersey Shore" premiered last night. Bramnick is challenging the show to compete with videos showing a true picture of life "Down the Shore." He's sponsoring a video contest to capture the real summer fun of the Jersey Shore and, "not the antics of Jersey wannabes being seen on the MTV reality show."
"We want to test the creativity of the people of New Jersey and put that creativity up against MTV's 'The Jersey Shore,'" explains Bramnick. "We think there's a lot of competition that will show there are a lot better things happening at the Jersey Shore than what MTV says……We want a 30-second video, the best video you have of the Jersey Shore and something that goes on at the Jersey Shore and then we're going to have, actually a night like the Emmy awards."
Contestants are encouraged to submit 30-second video clips to asmbramnick@njleg.org. The entries must be submitted by August 31. They will be judged by a panel of Jersey experts - legislators from the shore and others. Bramnick will personally sponsor prizes for the winners. He says, "I'm going to take my own money and give you a very special prize, could be a Speedo bathing suit, could be anything."
Bramnick has no problem with the MTV reality show. He says, "Entertainment is entertainment, but we're allowed to compete as well for reality and I think we're going to have the real reality videos."
The finalists will be premiered at a movie night at a to-be-determined date.
