It's Not Easy Staying Green

The summer heatwave has made area golf courses work a bit harder to keep courses playable with basically no rain.

For a municipal course like Toms River's Bey Lea golf course, water restrictions make it that much harder. Director of Recreation Eric Schubiger says that just getting average rainfall along with the current state of the art irrigation system in place, will keep the course in tip top shape.

The golf course generates 45% of revenues in the summer months and the course is a self serving utility within the township. So far revenues are on pace with last year while they see how the rest of the summer plays out
