TOMS RIVER - A  warrant raid on a Toms River house reveals 550 bags of heroin and nine pit bulls inside. Ocean County Prosecutor Marlene Lynch Ford says the July 21st raid resulted in the arrest of 29-year-old Curtis Rattray on four separate drug charges. Investigators also found a small stash of marijuana. The New Jersey ASPCA took custody of the dogs.

JACKSON - Bail is set at $150-thousand dollars for a 23-year-old Jackson woman arrested on drug charges during a rain on her house. Ami Telaj was charged with cocaine possession by members of the Ocean County Prosecutor's Special Operations Force and Jackson Police on July 22nd. Authorities seized 56 grams of cocaine and $1700 in cash.

JACKSON -
Jackson Police release the identity of the second driver involved in a drag race that ended with a vehicle flipping over and landing near a house porch on North County Line Road Monday. Reports say the motorist who fled the scene was 23 year old Maria Lauria of Toms River. Meanwhile, 19-year-old Jose Angeles of Jackson sustained minor injuries. Police say both drivers will be charged following an investigation. Witnesses are still being saught.

JACKSON - Jackson Township Council members approve a nearly $40-million dollar budget that continues furloughs but avoids layoffs of municipal workers. Reports say furloughs would be extended through the end of the year reducing the salaries of 200 municipal workers by 20 percent. The spending plan also forces the cancellation of Jackson Day.

TRENTON -
State Senator Sean Kean wants New Jersey Attorney general paula dow to find out why construction of off-track wagering centers has ground to a halt in New Jersey. Favorites in Toms River is one of only three in operation nearly a decade after officials mapped out plans for 15 statewide. The Monmouth Republican says they'd help revive New Jersey's horse racing sector that Governor Christie is ready to abandon.

WASHINGTON D.C. - A measure to allocate $20-million dollars to help war veterans avoid suicide moves forward on Capital Hill. Congressman Rush Holt's amendment would allocate funds to the veterans' administration for advertising and online services. House members approved it for the 2011 Veterans' Affairs Budget. If the spending plan clears the House, it moves to the Senate.

WASHINGTON D.C. - Brick, Toms River and Burlington County are getting federal grants for affordable housing and infrastructure. US Senators Frank Lautenberg and Robert Menendez say the Department of Housing and Urban Development has set aside community development block grants and home programs totalling $490,000 for Toms River, $383,000 for Brick and almost $3million for Burlington County. .
