Jesus Shore The Family Freindly Alternative to MTV's Jersey Shore
Rosetta Key Reporting
Two faith-based groups in Ocean County are hoping to show a different side of the "Jersey Shore" other than the one being portrayed by MTV'S reality show.
Abundant Grace Church and Move The Earth of Toms River are hosting "MTE's Jesus Shore" this Monday, August 2nd. Shawn Hyland of Move the Earth says the event will begin with a free beach day at Jenkinson's in Point Pleasant Beach and end with a free concert in Seaside Heights. Why you may ask?
Hyland says, "I wanted to bring a relevant faith and family day that contrast the Jersey Shore my family enjoys and the Jersey Shore MTV has portrayed to millions. If MTV can promote the fighting and fornicating ...then we will promote the faith and the families."
However, Hyland stresses that the event is not a rally against MTV's Jersey Shore and in fact he welcomes the cast members to attend. He says "as our website says 'For the Sexy, for the Ugly, for the Pagan and the Pure Welcome to the Beautiful Jesus Shore.' "
Hyland says from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jenkinson's Beach will offer a free beach pass for anyone who registers at the web site www.jesusshore.com but they have to bring the Jesus Shore pass with them. Then fifteen minutes away in Seaside Heights, there will be a free concert starting at 5 p.m. featuring Christian rap and rock artist along with a ChristianTattoo contest. The concert will run until 10 p.m.
