Higher Pension Denied In Corzine Crash

Officials have denied an accident
disability pension to the New Jersey state trooper who was driving
when former Gov. Jon Corzine's SUV crashed three years ago.

Robert Rasinski says he suffers back pain and post-traumatic
stress.

However, the pension board says the 38-year-old bears
significant responsibility for the accident.

The board awarded Rasinski an ordinary disability pension that
includes health benefits and equals 40 percent of his $100,688
salary. Rasinski will get no more than $3,000 a month, roughly
$2,000 less than he had hoped for.

Investigators found that Rasinski was driving Corzine at 91 mph
when the SUV struck another vehicle and veered into a guardrail in
2007.

Corzine suffered 15 broken bones and spent 18 days in the
hospital.

Rasinski served a three-day suspension after an internal
investigation said the crash was preventable.
