Police Investigate Ortley Beach Attempted Robbery



Toms River police are investigating the attempted armed robbery and injury of a Pennsylvania man in a grocery store parking lot in Ortley Beach Tuesday morning.

Police Chief Mike Mastonardy says the victim was approached by a white male suspect brandishing a knife and demanding the victims wallet. The victim was cut when he resisted the robbery attempt and the suspect fled without proceeds. Police say the suspect wearing a baseball cap, dark clothing and carrying a red draw-string cloth bag and was traveling on a black mountain bike headed toward Seaside Heights.
