Staying Cool In Ocean County



It's another hot weekend on the Jersey Shore as temperatures are expected to reach 100 degrees under blazing sunny skies and little relief at the beach.

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory in effect from 10AM til 10PM on Saturday. An Air Quality Advisory means that air quality within the region may approach or exceed unhealthy standards.

The National Weather Servcie has issued a Heat Advisory n effect until 8 pm this evening

United Water Toms River is loosening its water conservation request. Company officials say recent rains provide them with substantial relief. They're asking customers to follow its E.T. index guidelines to help determine when to water your lawn. You get get the E.T. index at unitedwater.com.

You can beat the stifling heat in dozens of public buildings in Ocean County. The Board of Freeholders have designated all 21 county library branches as cool places to go. The Ocean County Health Department will stay open from 11 'til five today on Sunset Avenue in Toms River, with water and air-conditioned space for up to 75 people. The Ocean County Mall in Toms River is open today and tomorrow - and the County Connection inside has free computer services.

Barnegat's recreation building stays open as a cooling center for township residents who need relief from the heat. Bring a book, audio device or a game and stay cool between eight in the morning and eight at night today and tomorrow.
