Storms Break Heat, Knock Out Power (MAP)
The storms that hit Sunday afternoon contained strong winds,
heavy rains and -- in some cases -- lightning and large hail.
Besides the power outages, the storms knocked down many trees and caused
some minor flooding, but no major problems were reported.
Atlantic City Electric said about 28,400 customers were without
power as of 11 p.m., while about 9,000 Jersey Central Power and
Light customers didn't have service.
