There are a few basics you will need to hear 1160 WOBM AM on your computer:

  • 90 MHz or faster Intel Pentium processor (or equivalent CPU)
  • Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows NT 4.0 with Service Pack 3, Windows ME, Windows XP or Windows Vista
  • 32 MB RAM
  • 30 MB free space on your hard disk 16-bit sound card and speakers
  • 65,000-color or better video display card
  • 28.8Kbps or faster Internet connection, and
  • Web browser (Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator)

Note these is a delay of 90 seconds between what goes out over the air and what you hear on the stream. This is part of the streaming experience and cannot be fixed or adjusted.

If you cannot hear the stream, here are some common reasons.

  • Firewall software on your computer or network: If you are on a network where the network administrator could have blocked streaming or restricted the bandwidth available for streaming, please contact them.
  • Pop up blocker or anti-virus program on your computer: Many firewall, anti-virus, and pop-up software packages block streaming. If you have any of this software on your computer, please try disabling them one at a time and try to access the stream. If you are able to access the stream when one specific software package is disabled, streaming will have to be "allowed" through that software. Please consult the software Help or manual to learn how to allow streaming.
  • Drop Outs: 1160 WOBM AM has a solid internet connection but occasionally the connection will experience a minor interruption causing the audio to drop out for a quick second or a few minutes. You may also see the message "The specified server cannot be found" or "Buffering." Simply close out the Stream Player and try again in a few minutes.
  • The message "Windows Media cannot play the file because the specified protocol is not supported... " Appears: Make sure that you have the newest version Windows Media player. You can download the player for free from Microsoft's website here: Microsoft.com To set the Windows Media player as your default player, open it and go to Tools->Options->File Types tab, then click the Select All button, then Apply and OK.
  • Something on the Internet is broken: We are utilizing a number of providers and they are connected all over the web. Once in a while traffic from one or more of our stations can be affected by a bad router or connection at one of these intermediate connections.
  • We are rebooting the server for maintenance or upgrades: This is not a likely occurrence. We rarely take the servers down during busy times. Outages would only last about 3 minutes.
  • Is the volume up on your speakers?

If you are still having a problem please contact our webmaster via email at danalexander@wobmam.com. This is the best way to get an answer.

Please include your full name, email address and a phone number so we may contact you.
